Renewal Takes New Shape
The RENEWING LIVES Campaign at the Franciscan Renewal Center includes renovations to existing guest rooms used by overnight retreatants and conference attendees, plus the construction of more lodging to ensure all have a comfortable place to stay.
In keeping with Franciscan values, the Casa desires to offer all guests a hospitality that is as comfortable, clean and safe as we would expect for ourselves or loved ones. Thirty of 54 guest rooms were remodeled in Summer 2013. An additional guest lodge with 32 rooms began construction in Fall 2014. To be named the Assisi Building, it is located on the north acreage near the existing Guadalupe Building. Remaining guest rooms will be remodeled over time.
Guest tooms will continue to preserve the unique solitude promised at the Casa and will be without phones, radios, and televisions as they have since 1951. With careful planning and thoughtful design, the tranquility and spiritual nature of the campus will remain completely intact.
Projections indicate that the number of individuals participating in retreats and other activities will increase from 133,000 to 200,000 in the first year alone. Upon completion of this aspect of the Master Plan, the Franciscan Renewal Center may deepen its reach into the hearts and souls of thousands more — guiding society toward renewed peace and goodness.
