Making room for more around the table
UPDATE: Even though the Casa’s Capital Campaign has come to an end, if you would still like to participate, we would love to talk to you.
The Franciscan Renewal Center, our “Casa de Paz y Bien,” is growing! We invite you to learn more about what’s happening at the Casa as we expand our campus and programs to serve all who come to us now – as well as the generations yet to come.
The Casa’s vision for its future and the RENEWING LIVES campaign have been thoughtfully created as a result of rigorous discernment with Franciscan spirituality and tradition at the core of all decision-making.
We need your help and support in realizing a day when countless new stories will be told, many more lives will be renewed, and the message of Christ will spread further.
The inspirational atmosphere at the Franciscan Renewal Center has resulted in the significant growth of programs—250 percent in recent years—exceeding all expectations in the most glorious fashion, yet creating overcrowded conditions that threaten to compromise the indescribable serenity found here.
The Casa is regularly booked to capacity and is forced to turn away individuals, churches, and helping organizations that gather on its holy premises for restoration and renewal. Everything from parking, church seating, conference facilities, guest rooms, and retreat and healing areas are no longer adequate in size or sufficient in modern amenities to accommodate the increasing number of people who wish to call the Casa home. Basic and essential needs to upgrade the infrastructure of several existing buildings, repurpose and expand others, and otherwise make appropriate use of currently inaccessible acreage must be addressed in order for the Franciscan Renewal Center to maintain its reputation as one of America’s premier spiritual retreat centers.
The Franciscan Renewal Center is now at a crossroads. Like St. Francis, we heed the call issued to him more than 800 years ago: “Francis, go and rebuild my church.”
With the support and blessing of Fr. John Hardin, OFM Provincial of the Franciscan Province of Saint Barbara, the Franciscan Renewal Center Board of Directors has launched the RENEWING LIVES fundraising campaign. Philanthropic commitments, payable over three to five years, will be sought from all those who wish to deepen their faith by sharing the gifts of the Casa with others. Quietly initiated in December 2011 upon review of a thoughtfully conceived master site plan, the ambitious fundraising effort is targeted for completion by December 2015.
