Easter ReflectionRecently, I was thinking back on Easter as a child. Easter Sunday was always a fun day, filled with egg hunts, Easter baskets, chocolate bunnies, our Sunday best, and family. There are two particular Easters that really make me smile. First, when I was about five, I remember my uncle giving my sisters and me baby chicks. We thought this was the greatest gift ever. Our parents? Not so much. There was another Easter that I won a rabbit in a grade school raffle. Even though my parents were not thrilled once again, Mickey, the bunny, became a beloved member of the family for many years. However, I am not certain what happened to the baby chicks several years earlier. One can only speculate. We all know Easter is much more than baby chicks and bunnies. It’s about being grateful that Jesus rose from the dead. He is a God of surprises, and was resurrected to new life on Easter Sunday morning for us! So, let your hearts be filled with joy, as Jesus’ resurrection is a gift of new life for each of us.While enjoying your family traditions and special treats, remember to reflect upon the fact that today is a day to rejoice, and it is up to each one of us to be an ambassador of Christ and spread the good word. God wants you to experience the joy of Easter and pass it on to others.I wish you all a very joyous Easter filled with fun surprises. Beautiful message. I also remember receiving some baby chicks! My granddaughterwas the first to remind me that Easter was not about baskets, candy and the Easter bunny.
She told me it was about Jesus rising from the dead and giving us new life. It was about caring for others and doing God’s work. She understood the true meaning at a very early age.
Well written, recalled and shared, Sue! ~O~
