Come Away to a Desert Place and Rest Awhile
The spectacular yet secluded 25-acre Franciscan Renewal Center offers a tranquil oasis in the heart of greater Phoenix for quiet reflection, prayer, learning, healing or joyful worship. Our grounds are open to those who are respectful of life and creation, and feature a number of places for individuals to walk humbly with God.
Because individuals come to this “Casa de Paz y Bien” for many reasons, we ask all visiting our campus to be mindful of the privacy or peaceful wishes of those you may encounter here. Thank you.

The Saint John’s Bible
The Franciscan Renewal Center is pleased to share on permanent display The Heritage Edition of The Saint John’s Bible — a fine art reproduction of what is believed to be the first handwritten, hand-illuminated Bible commissioned by a Benedictine Abbey since the time of the Gutenberg press. Creating the original Saint John’s Bible was a millennial art project by English artist Donald Jackson and Saint John’s University of Collegeville, Minn.
Through the generosity of alumni of Saint John’s University and other donors, the Casa was selected as a permanent home for one of 299 limited editions in existence worldwide. It is the first to be on permanent display in Arizona.
The Saint John’s Bible can be viewed daily from 7:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Casa. There is no charge. We are delighted to share this captivating marriage of Scripture and Art with the public. Docents are available by appointment to explain this piece to you or your group.
The Franciscan Renewal Center welcomes more than 50,000 overnight visits each year from guests attending a retreat, meeting or conference. A dedicated team of staff is available 24/7 to assist. Inquiries may be directed to 480.948.7460.
